Description

Quality control in auditing refers to the policies and procedures implemented by audit firms to ensure that audit engagements are conducted in accordance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical principles, and that the reports issued are appropriate in the circumstances. It focuses on maintaining high standards of professional competence, independence, supervision, and review throughout the audit process. Quality control systems generally include elements such as leadership responsibilities for quality, ethical requirements, acceptance and continuance of client relationships, engagement performance, and monitoring of audit work. In India, audit firms are required to follow the standards on quality management issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, which aim to enhance the consistency, reliability, and credibility of audit services provided by professionals.
